Mike Johnston and Donald Monti, founding members of the Concorde Hotel Group, provide over 60 years of combined experience with some of the world’s leading lodging companies, and have been personally responsible for the leadership of over $1 billion in combined hotel asset values over their careers. Mr. Johnston and Mr. Monti are well known and respected leaders within the industry as is evidenced by their frequent participation as experts on panels and within industry events.
Mike Johnston, Principal
Mike Johnston has over 30 years of Hotel and Hospitality Industry experience including numerous positions in Corporate Management, Operations, and Human Resources. He has served as General Manager at City, Suburban, and Airport locations and has been personally involved in numerous hotel openings, acquisitions and repositionings.
Mr. Johnston possesses extensive knowledge in all aspects of the hospitality industry. As past President of the Long Island Hotel & Lodging Association and current Chair of the Board of Directors for the Long Island Convention & Visitors Bureau, Mr. Johnston is a recognized leader within the industry with a long track record of success. The New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association recognized Mr. Johnston as Hotel Executive of the Year in 2009. Mr. Johnston also recently served as Professor at Nassau Community College, teaching Hospitality and Tourism.
In addition to his wide range of industry experience, Mr. Johnston has spearheaded numerous charitable events in an effort to give back to the community and sits on numerous local and regional industry advisory boards.
Donald Monti, Principal
Donald Monti brings a unique and valuable perspective to CHG as one of the Northeast’s most successful and innovative real estate developers. As Founder and President of Renaissance Downtowns LLC, the nation’s branded leader in the large scale redevelopment of suburban downtowns, Mr. Monti understands the context necessary to provide for successful ventures within the hospitality industry.
Mr. Monti’s hands on experience within the hospitality industry is evidenced by the standing of the 170+ room Plainview Marriott Residence Inn which was built and is now owned and operated by Mr. Monti and has become one of the most successful locations nationwide. Mr. Monti knows first hand what is necessary to run a tight ship while still providing guests with unparalleled service.
With a full range of expertise from new hotel development and construction to hotel ownership and management, Mr. Monti’s honesty, professionalism and hands-on approach have earned him the respect of political leaders, fellow colleagues and members of the community. Mr. Monti has also been heavily involved in community affairs, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Don Monti Memorial Foundation and being honored as Man of the Year by the American Red Cross.
Michele Skobla, Director of Operations
Michele Skobla is responsible for overseeing financial and legal aspects of CHG’s internal operations. With over 15 years of extensive experience within the hospitality and real estate industries including development, financing, leasing and property management, Michele provides the Company with tremendous continuity, having worked with Mr. Monti in his various ventures for the past 17 years.
Brandon Palanker, Director of Marketing
Brandon A. Palanker has over 15 years of experience in the marketing arena with a focus on strategic marketing, communications and community affairs. Prior to joining CHG, Brandon was the driving force in setting up Long Island’s first free downtown WiFi Internet Zone in Glen Cove, New York. Through these efforts, Mr. Palanker garnered a great deal of publicity for GlenCoveWifi and the local retail community including significant news coverage from Newsday, Channel 12 LI News, various News Radio outlets throughout the Tri-State region and special coverage in the Sunday New York Times.
Ryan Porter, Director of Development
Ryan Porter brings more than 10 years of combined experience in the real estate development and financial services industries to his role at CHG.
Mr. Porter has significant experience within the mixed-use development arena and has a keen understanding of the importance of hospitality within this context. Likewise, Mr. Porter understands the ingredients necessary to create a viable location for specific hospitality uses. Mr. Porter’s experience within these key industries provides a strategic advantage for CHG and its clients.
Patti Basile, Director of Human Resources
Patti Basile has over 20 years of experience dealing with Human Resources within the hospitality, construction and property management industries. Her dedication to improving employee morale and efficiency are evidenced by her successes with Concorde Management (one of Long Island’s leading Property Management Companies) along with her role overseeing all aspects of Human Resources for the Plainview Marriott Residence Inn.
Mike Fusco, Director of Construction Services
Mike Fusco has over 20 years experience in the construction industry, covering a full range of uses including a strong presence in the hospitality field. His hands on approach and expertise provide CHG’s clients with the assurance that construction and development projects will be done on time and on budget. Mr. Fusco’s experience includes ground up construction along with repositionings, and significant renovations and upgrades to existing properties.
